Dexed is a free, open-source FM synthesizer modeled closely on the classic Yamaha DX7, down to compatible sysex patches and 144 DAW-automatable parameters. It’s built as a companion to the original hardware rather than an extended reinvention of it, so if you own a real DX7 or TX7, Dexed can also work as a patch editor for it.
Features
- 144 parameters exposed for full DAW automation.
- Full DX7/TX7 sysex import/export, including controller changes — usable as a hardware patch editor.
- Per-operator real-time VU meters.
- Load and save individual programs or full sysex banks.
- Comes with a bundled library of 1024 factory-style programs.
Compatibility
Available in VST3, AU, and CLAP, for Windows, macOS & Linux (64-bit only in current releases). Free and open source, released under the GPL v3 license.
Good to know
Want more sounds? There’s also a free pack of 10,000+ extra DX7 presets to go beyond the bundled 1024.

Was easy to install and sounds quite good!
I see only 32 presets. And I downloaded the preset bank here, but how do you install those? or must they be loaded manually each time?
puedo exportar los sonidos editados al DX7 hardware?
