BattleFX

BattleFX | Audio Plugins for Free

BattleFX by Unfiltered Audio is a surprisingly powerful FREE creative FX plugin extracted from their drum machine/synth ecosystem “Battalion”.

It combines:

  • creative delay
  • reverb
  • ducking/choking systems
  • maximizer
  • EQ
  • Euclidean rhythmic modulation

…into one highly experimental multi-effect.

And honestly:
👉 this is NOT a basic free delay/reverb.

It is closer to:

  • a sound design workstation
  • rhythmic FX processor
  • cinematic texture tool
  • glitch ambience generator

🔥 Main Components

🌊 Shatter Delay

A highly characterful creative delay.

Not just echoes:

  • broken textures
  • rhythmic fragments
  • glitchy repeats
  • atmospheric movement

Very good for:

  • synths
  • drums
  • ambient sound design
  • experimental transitions

🌌 Headspace Reverb

A lush atmospheric reverb engine.

Can go from:

  • subtle ambience
  • huge cinematic spaces
  • smeared drones
  • surreal textures

Works especially well with:

  • pads
  • vocals
  • percussion
  • soundscapes

⚔️ The Unique Feature: Automatic Choking

This is where BattleFX becomes special.

The plugin can:

  • automatically choke
  • mute
  • duck
  • interrupt

the delay/reverb buffers rhythmically.

Meaning:
the echoes and reverbs pulse rhythmically instead of just washing endlessly.

🧠 Euclidean Rhythm System

One of the coolest parts.

BattleFX includes:
👉 Euclidean pattern generation.

This creates:

  • evolving rhythmic ducking
  • organic gating
  • shifting ambience
  • complex groove interaction

without manually programming automation.

Very powerful for:

  • IDM
  • techno
  • ambient
  • glitch
  • cinematic scoring

🎛 Independent Delay/Reverb Control

You can:

  • control delay separately
  • control reverb separately
  • sync independently
  • offset timing independently

This allows:

  • asymmetrical FX movement
  • polyrhythmic spaces
  • unstable rhythmic textures

🔊 Maximize Section

Taken from Battalion’s master section.

Adds:

  • loudness
  • saturation
  • density
  • aggressive impact

Can turn:

  • quiet ambience
    into:
  • explosive walls of sound

🎚 Built-In EQ

Useful for:

  • shaping FX tails
  • darkening ambience
  • brightening delays
  • removing mud

🔇 Solo & Mute Modes

You can isolate:

  • delay only
  • reverb only
  • processing sections individually

Excellent for:

  • sound design
  • resampling
  • parallel processing

🎵 Best Uses

🌌 Ambient Music

BattleFX is incredible for:

  • evolving textures
  • infinite ambience
  • granular-like movement

🏭 Industrial / Experimental

The choke system creates:

  • broken tails
  • mechanical pulses
  • glitch atmospheres

🎛 Techno / IDM

Euclidean modulation becomes addictive.

Perfect for:

  • rhythmic FX
  • dub techno
  • unstable grooves

🎬 Cinematic Sound Design

Excellent for:

  • impacts
  • transitions
  • drones
  • horror atmospheres

🥁 Drum Processing

Especially good on:

  • snares
  • percussion
  • hats
  • drum buses

⚡ Why It Stands Out

Most free FX plugins are:

  • basic
  • limited
  • simple utilities

BattleFX feels more like:
👉 a modular creative processor.

The rhythmic choke concept alone is unusual.

🎹 Similar To

BattleFX sits somewhere between:

  • Output Portal
  • Tantra
  • Infiltrator
  • ShaperBox
  • Glitchmachines
  • Eventide Blackhole

…but with its own weird rhythmic identity.

🔥 Hidden Power Move

Try this:

Ambient Trick

  1. Put BattleFX on a send
  2. Long reverb
  3. Long delay
  4. Heavy maximize
  5. Euclidean choke active
  6. Slight timing offsets

Result:
👉 evolving cinematic rhythmic ambience.

💻 Use Cases

Knowing your interest in:

  • experimental textures
  • synth sound design
  • cinematic atmospheres
  • hardware-style experimentation

…BattleFX could fit VERY well in your workflow.

Especially combined with:

  • granular plugins
  • ambient drones
  • retro tape effects
  • glitch tools

⚙️ Verdict

For FREE:
👉 BattleFX is absurdly powerful.

Not because it sounds “clean” or “transparent”…

…but because it encourages:

  • experimentation
  • rhythmic chaos
  • evolving textures
  • creative FX abuse

It feels like an instrument more than an effect.

After a while, not sure exactly how long but it crashes making loud white noise. Needs to quit the daw to stop it.
